Artist aims to draw youngsters into Sea Monsters event

Local artist Ian Ellery will be running special monstrous cartoon workshops on Wednesday and Thursday (Oct 22nd -23rd) at Hastings Blue Reef Aquarium as part of their Sea Monsters Week event.
Ian Ellery is a Hastings based Cartoonist and Illustrator. He specialises in funny character designs for Greetings Cards, TV, Print and the Web.
The two workshops Ian will be running are 'Silly Sea Creatures' and 'Mad Monsters of the Deep!'
In these fun workshops Ian will help youngsters cartoon the weird and wonderful creatures of the deep and help them create their own silly sea creatures and mad sea monsters.
Blue Reef's Siobhan Gibbons said: "It was extremely kind of Ian to volunteer to come down and offer his considerable talents to create an exciting new dimension to our Sea Monsters activities.
"His cartoons are wonderful and extremely funny and I'm sure his workshops will prove to be extremely popular."
Among the 'monsters' on display during the event will be the planet's deadliest frogs, the world's biggest octopus species and the UK's most toxic fish.
Other activities on offer to younger visitors throughout the week include sea monster face painting, beastly story telling, Design a Monster Face Mask and competitions.
Interactive displays and special sea monster themed talks will provide more information about famous tales of the deep and there will be exhibitions featuring monstrous myths and legends throughout history, infamous hoaxes, cases of mistaken identity and even modern reports of sea monsters.
